Scheduling Software Comes In a Lot of VarietiesBy: Blanche Becker | |||
| The boss gave me the job of finding some scheduling software to line up the crews as we were going to a second shift. We would be going from 25 to 50 hourly employees so we had definitely outgrown the ledger handed down from the company origins about 40 years ago. Well everything else is on the computer now so why not this simple need. So the hunt begins with a web search, and I learn that there is software for every kind of scheduling. There's scheduling software for appointments, rooms, equipment, and doctor's offices. Some are for billing, truck maintenance, time shares, and classes at schools. There must be a scheduling consulting company out there that could go through this mess and tell us exactly what we need, but extra money so forget it. Looking on the internet can be confusing with a task like this. Time Tracker looks like it fits the bill and they have been around since the dark ages of 1983. Wow it says "Employee Scheduling Software" right at the top and "free trial" lower down. We'll give it ago even if their web site is real lame with half the middle missing. Why do I feel lost here. | |||
